From the Pastor’s Desk. . . I give
thanks and praise to God for this great opportunity to serve as the Pastor of
the Paradise Missionary Baptist Church. The
task of leading God’s people into a life of great service is a privilege that
I take serious. Paradise
has been providing Christian service to the Omaha area for over70 years and we hope that our
service has not been in vain. As we
look back over the years there have been many ups and down, but through it
all we’ve learned to trust in God. Building A
Healthy Church to Serve an Unhealthy Society takes commitment on the part of every member. In today’s society we are experiencing a growing tension
between the Biblical and the cultural. The
Bible calls us into a relationship with God while the world dances with the
supernatural. The Bible obligates
us to the Lordship of Jesus Christ while the world calls our attention to the
freedom of the individual. The
Bible cries against sin while the world solicits “tolerance” in light of
social deviance. We have houses
with broken families. We’ve
learned how to make a living but not a life.
Our society is unhealthy. If Paradise
is to become a “Healthy Church”, we must point people to a covenant
relationship with God. We must
teach the fundamentals of the faith, preach the good news of the kingdom and
bring healing into the broken lives of people.
Paradise we
have been given orders from Jesus to “Go into all the world and teach men
about the reality of serving the Lord.” We
must arise from the slumber of spiritual apathy and rekindle the fire of the
word of God. “Remember,
therefore, what you have received and heard; obey it, and repent.” (Revelation 3:2-3) Congratulations
and may God Bless you in His service of healing this unhealthy society.
